Acclime India advises Sloan Valve Company on the acquisition of a controlling stake in Essel Bathfittings.
Acclime India acted as the sole advisor for Sloan Valve Company on its acquisition of a Chandigarh-based bath fittings manufacturer, marking a significant cross-border transaction in India’s organised plumbing sector.
Sloan Valve Company, a Chicago-based manufacturer of water-efficient plumbing systems with over a century of operations, has acquired a controlling stake in Essel Bathfittings Pvt. Ltd. Ritesh Dudeja and Dr. Yajna Prakash of Acclime India served as sole buy-side advisors to Sloan. Due diligence was conducted by KPMG, LKS and ERM India.
What the deal involves
Sloan established its India presence in 2016 and has since built a regional footprint. Essel Bathfittings, a 25-year-old manufacturer based in Derabassi, Punjab, operates a domestic distribution network with exports to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The transaction gives Sloan direct access to local manufacturing capacity for its institutional product lines and entry into Essel’s mid-market builder and distributor channels. For Essel, it opens technology transfer and global export pathways through Sloan’s international network. Both companies plan a dual-brand approach targeting premium and mid-market segments across India’s organised bath fittings sector.
Why this matters
India’s bath fittings market is growing at 7–10% annually, supported by government infrastructure spending, urbanisation and water conservation requirements. Organised players are consolidating a historically fragmented market, and deals of this kind reflect the broader pattern of international manufacturers using acquisitions to build local scale rather than greenfield entry.
For foreign companies assessing India as a manufacturing or distribution base, this transaction illustrates how a well-structured acquisition can combine speed to market with access to established channels.
